BPMO Jatha Aims to End the Reign of TMC Terror

The Jatha, organised by the Bengal Platform for Mass Organisation (BPMO), has gained enough momentum throughout the districts of West Bengal. The number of participants is increasing everyday. The rallies which started on Saturday have put aside various difficulties and reached the mass. Consequently, the number of participants has taken an upward swing.

West Midnapore

•    At Pingla block, two jatha rallies roamed. More than 500 people joined the rallies travelling almost 18 kilometers covering 20 booths.

•    At Khirpai four jatha rallies roamed across 34 booth areas.

•    There were five jatha rallies which travelled 52 kilometers covering 89 booth areas at Daspur-1 block.

•    At Daspur-2 block 5 jatha rallies covering 30 booth areas travelled almost 27 kilometers.

•    At Ghatal block 5 jatha rallies covered 80 booth areas.

•    In Kharagpur town four jatha rallies were observed roaming through 62 booth areas travelling 36 kilometers.

•    There was one jatha rally in Jhargram town area.

•    At Sabang block 6 jatha rallies travelled 90 kilometers.

•    Three jatha rallies travelled through 29 booth areas at Narayangarh.

•    At Midnapore town in East & West blocks there were jatha rallies covering 10 and 32 booth areas respectively.

•    In Bhalukbasa forest, Malisai and Sakhavanga forest areas of Goaltor block three jatha rallies were observed.

Burdwan

•    In Burdwan town a huge jatha rally roamed through Rath-tala area travelling 4 kilometers which concluded at the Beltala ground. At least five thousand people joined this jatha.
•    At Guskara Valki area a jatha rally with over 500 people travelled through 30 kilometers. This two-days long jatha rally was all equipped with 13 decorated motor vans and tribal dance and music. This jatha started from the Panchmohuli village.
•    At Palasan of Raina there was a rally and and a mass meeting. The rally started from Dharan.
•    At Sudpur panchayat area of Katwa-1 block three jatha rallies travelled through 19 booth areas.
•    There was a rally at Goai area too.
•    A jatha rally started from Kaichar village of Mangalkot and roaming through 6 villages it concluded at Balarampur.
•    In Kalna area three organized jatha rallies covered 39 booth localities where more than six hundred people joined in.
•    In 21 villages of 16 wards of Memari the jathas of BPMO roamed through.

Howrah

•    A jatha started from Nakole, Shyampur area which roaming through 10 villages concluded at Gojla.
•    Another jatha started from DM Ghat travelled through 13 booth areas of 7 villages.
•    From Naoda, Amardah a jatha rally covered 21 villages.
•    A jatha rally started from Pichaldah area of Baneswarpur-2, Shyampur and covered 21 villages.
•    Two different jatha rallies were observed at Radhapur and Kamalpur.
•    At Haturia-2 panchayat area of Bagnan a jatha rally travelled 13 booth localities. Another jatha rally kicked off from Antila.
•    There were two jatha rallies in Uluberia. One from Chandipur Rathtala which roamed through Potuapara, Jaynagar, Kumorpara, Manikpur and concluded at Kulgachi market.
•    There were jatha rallies at Sankrail, Duilya, Basudebpur, Andul Nimtala, North Jhapardah and Mourigram areas.
•    A jatha rally from Howrah Corporation area’s ward no. 7 & 9 roamed 38 booth areas.
•    At Chamrail a jatha rally travelled 14 booth localities.
•    A jatha rally at Bally roamed through 18 booth areas and concluded at Bhattanagar Market.
•    From North Howrah Bandhghat More a jatha rally roamed through ward no. 1, 2, 4 and 7 of Howrah Corporation and concluded at Hanuman Coolie Line.
•    Jatha rally starting from Salkia Chowrasta concluded at Pilkhana.
•    At Central Howrah two jatha rallies travelled through 5 ward areas.
•    At Jagatballavpur Hantal area three thousand people participated in a rally which roamed through 12 booth areas.

Nadia

•    10 jatha rallies from Mahatpur, Matiari, Barasat, Asannagar, Krishnanagar town, Kamalpur, Karimpur areas travelled almost 120 kilometers covering 128 booth localities.
•    32 jatha rallies from Nabadwip, Chakdah, Badkulla, Dhubulia and Fatehpur travelled almost 316 kilometers. BPMO jathas have reached more than 400 booths this day.

East Midnapore

The Jatha participants experienced a new low from the TMC hooligans who looted the food kept for the participants in Haldia. The food was kept at the local Debhog High School where the TMC hooligans came and fled away with all the food. The local people blocked NH 41 in protest of such an activity. CPI(M) District Secretary Niranjan Sihi strongly condemned the TMC hooligans. However, the heinous deed could not stand as an obstacle to the participant. They covered 183 kms by road. Party workers of Chandipur, Kanthi and other areas joined the rally. 

North 24 Parganas

The rally started at Shibdaspur near Naihati. Participants from various Left parties and other mass organisations joined the rally. The participants covered an area spread over six electoral booths.

South 24 Parganas

The rally started from Mathurapur Railway Station. The participants placed their demand for basic elements of democracy, fraternity and job security. The rally marched through the areas of Canning, Magrahat, Mohunpur etc. As many as 113 mass organisations are expected to participate in the coming rallies. Huge participation from local people has been evident in various points of the district areas.

Jalpaiguri

•    Jatha rallies were organized in different areas of district.
•    The jatha programs of Assam crossing and Maynaguri block were among the most successful ones.

Thousands of People Gather in Hooghly for Jatha

A total of 94 Jatha rallies were organised in Hooghly on Sunday. They placed their demands to restore democracy. At the same time, they raised their voice to stop the violence and reign of terror fuelled by the TMC. Former Minister of the Left Front government Sudarshan Ray Chaudhury, alongwith former MP Santasri Chatterjee, led the rally in Konnagar. The rally covered 32 electoral booths of seven wards of Konnagar Municipality area. Students, youth, members of Mahila Samity and members of Lekhak Shilpi Sangha added to the strength of the rallies. Apart from Konnagar, rallies were organised in the rural areas of Hoogly. As many as 11 Jatha rallies covered 82 electoral booths of Jangipara, Radhanagar, Furfura, Kotalpur etc. Adding to that, several Jatha rallies were conducted in Serampore, Bandipur and other areas of the district. CPI(M) leader and former MP of the area Rupchand Pal inaugurated the rally at Kharua.

Jatha Accompanies Convention in Dumdum

Mass participation was witnessed in Rajarhat, Dumdum (South) and Bidhannagar municipal areas. CPI(M) leader Ramala Chakraborty lead the rally in Bidhannagar. The rally covered four wards of Bidhannagar Municipality. CPI(M) State Committee member Nepaldeb Bhattacharya lead the rally in Hatiara and delivered his speech. CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Md. Selim was present in the rally in New Town. He delivered a speech regarding the current challenges faced by the Leftists. In Dumdum (North) municipal area, rallies were lead by Rajya Sabha MP Ritabrata Banerjee.
