Jatha Food in Haldia
The statewide Jatha which began on Saturday has already dragged enough support from the mass. The Jatha, arranged by Bengal Platform for Mass Organisations (BPMO), has caught people’s attention in all the districts and people have extended their moral support to the Jatha.
Jatha covered 134 electoral booths in Howrah
The mass organisations in Howrah district arranged as many as 10 rallies on the first day. They covered areas spreading over 134 electoral booths. The mass organisations rallied with 15 demands which were reflected through banners, festoons and posters. The rallies marched through the rural areas of Memari, Kahnpur, Harishpur, Narail, Ramchandrapur etc.
Jatha covered 183 kms in East Midnapore
The Jatha participants experienced a new low from the TMC hooligans who looted the food kept for the participants in Haldia. The food was kept at the local Debhog High School where the TMC hooligans came and fled away with all the food. The local people blocked NH 41 in protest of such an activity. CPI(M) District Secretary Niranjan Sihi strongly condemned the TMC hooligans. However, the heinous deed could not stand as an obstacle to the participant. They covered 183 kms by road. Party workers of Chandipur, Kanthi and other areas joined the rally.
North 24 Parganas Jatha covered 6 electoral booths
The rally started at Shibdaspur near Naihati. Participants from various Left parties and other mass organisations joined the rally. The participants covered an area spread over six electoral booths.
South 24 Parganas witnessed huge participation
The rally started Mathurapur Railway Station having CPI(M) leader Kanti Ganguly in forefront. The participants placed their demand for basic elements of democracy, fraternity and job security. The rally marched through the areas of Canning, Magrahat, Mohunpur etc. As many as 113 mass organisations are expected to participate in the coming rallies. Huge participation from local people has been evident in various points of the district areas.
Nadia
The rallies started in 279 electoral booths of Chapra block. Various local party leaders joined the Jatha. Village assemblies were organised in several localities.
