Midnapore, Nov. 20: CPM state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra was today pushed around by suspected Trinamul activists when he was leading a procession in his constituency in West Midnapore.

Mishra was leading a procession in Narayangarh around 10.15 this morning against the state and central governments when a group of 50 to 60 alleged Trinamul activists stopped him. They pushed him around.

The CPM politburo member's security guard and three plainclothesmen formed a security cordon around him and took him away from the area.

Some of the attackers shouted "go back Surjya Mishra" slogans.

"Like today, Trinamul goons are attacking us everywhere to stop us from organising any movement against the government. But we will carry on with our protests," Mishra said later.

Trinamul's Narma anchal president Shaktipada Dey said none from the party was involved in the alleged attack.
